Jamari “Smoke” Blackmon Commits to Tuskegee University

One of the biggest questions to be answered this year was where is Smoke going to play in college? That question was answered when he committed to Tuskegee University just before his senior season on the ballfield started.

Since the frigid night when Smoke sent a ball over the 18 foot wall in left in a freshman game, Smoke has compiled 40 stolen bases at the varsity level. He’s the kind of player that puts all of the skill sets to use, showcasing speed, power, situational awareness, bat to ball skills, and ballhawk level defense in the outfield. The Tuskegee University Golden Tigers got themselves a great one!

We wish Smoke all the best at Tuskegee. He continues the long history of players going on to play at the next level from Randy Jordan field. Smoke is the 14th player in the last 5 years to go on to play in college.

The Blue Devils begin their season at Harris County on February 9th. CHS and Harris County agree to swap home and away games chronoligically to honor the tragic passing of the Harris County head coach, Tony Dimitri.
